Strictly Come Dancing star Seann Walsh’s girlfriend has hit out at the “controlling” comedian – after he called her a “psycho” when she probed him about cheating.
Rebecca Humphries broke her silence on social media to slam Seann, after pictures emerged of him kissing dancing partner Katya Jones last week.
The dancing partners have both publicly addressed the drunken incident, but Rebecca wanted to share her side of the story, as the Mirror reports.
She posted on Twitter : “My name is Rebecca Humphries and I am not a victim,” her statement began.
“I wasn’t sure whether to respond to events from the past week, but I feel the narrative has missed a couple of crucial elements that I would like to clear up.
“It’s incredibly good of Sean(n) and Katya to apologise in the media.
“I have received nothing other than the support of my family, friends and a host of strangers on the internet who all wanted to make sure I was OK.”
Pictures emerged of Seann enjoying a passionate drunken snog with his dance partner Katya outside a London pub last week.
Seann, 32, and Katya, 29, did nothing to hide their affection for each other after emerging from a pub in Marylebone, Central London, hand in hand last Wednesday.
Rebecca continued: “Those pictures were taken on October 3rd. It was my birthday. I was alone at home when Sean texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink.
“We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on.
“He aggressively, and repeatedly, called me a psycho / nuts / mental. As he has done countless times throughout our relationship when I’ve questioned his inappropriate, hurtful behaviour.”
She added: “But – this whole business has served to remind me that I am a strong, capable person who is now free; and no victim.
“I have a voice and will use it by saying this to any woman out there who deep down feels worthless and trapped with a man they love: Believe in yourself and your instincts.
“It’s more than lying. It’s controlling. Tell some very close friends, who if they’re anything like my wonderful network, will swoop in and take care of the logistics and of you.
“It’s important also to recognise that in these situations those who hold power over you are insecure and fragile, and their need for control comes from a place of vulnerability.
“I think it certainly does in Sean’s case. Despite everything, I hope he gets what he wants from this. I’m not sorry I took the cat though.”
Seann hinted that not all was happy at home before he was caught snogging his dance partner Katya Jones.
The comedian moved in with his girlfriend Rebecca Humphries in 2014 and later that year complained about his partner during a performance at that year’s Edinburgh Comedy Festival.
Making light of the frictions at home, the comic moaned that his other half stopped him from drinking, wouldn’t let him sleep in and was very anal about house cleanliness.
“I have met and moved in with my girlfriend. You know what it’s like, you have to change, you have to adapt, different ways of looking at life,” he said.
“I’ve had to cut down on my drinking. I’m still allowed to go out, but I’m not allowed to come home drunk. Sorry, what? How does that work? What do you want me to do, meet them in the front garden? I have to go out sober.”
He continued: “I love living with my girlfriend, I do, but there are some things that are very difficult to adjust to. For example she’s one of these morning people.
“She wakes me up. The other day she woke me up to tell me she was going out. What? Come on!
“‘Darling, darling, I’m going out’. Let’s just assume that when I wake up and you’re not there, I don’t think you’re playing hide and seek.
“Sometimes she wakes me up and pretends she’s being nice. She’ll wake me up, ‘darling, darling, I’ll make a cup of tea’. How can I want a cup of tea? I’m asleep. I don’t want anything. You haven’t made a cup of tea, have you? You’ve made a plan. I have to get up and do.”
Seann also complained about her tidiness, adding: “The flat has to be spotless at all times in case we have guests. Guests! I used to have friends.
“I remember friends would come round, we’d talk nonsense then go out. What are these guests doing? Coming round and leaving comments on TripAdvisor? ‘I was having a great time until I saw a DVD out of its case, two stars.'”
Earlier today, despite calls for the pair to quit Strictly out of respect to their partners, BBC bosses have apparently stated that no-one will be going anywhere.
“Strictly have confirmed that Seann and Katya will be dancing together this weekend as planned. No-one is pulling out of the show,” read a statement from the Beeb according to Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford .
