One way to alienate all of your neighbours is by being too noisy – especially if you live in a block of flats.
Especially now, while we spend all of our time at home – meaning any disturbances by noisy neighbours can really leave you fuming.
While it’s impossible to not make any noises that might disturb your fellow residents, it’s up to you to make sure you’re not disturbing people.
One resident was surprised to see a note on their door recently from an unknown neighbour, airing their grievances.
And it was pretty awkward – with many people left cringing at the content.
It said: “Dear neighbor.
“We hear everything! You know what I’m referring too…please be considerate.
“Maybe try a ball gag? Happy holidays!”
A friend of the neighbour shared it on Reddit – where lots of people had a laugh at the person’s expense.
One person joked: “Little did they know that your friend was just enthusiastically eating a bowl of spaghetti.”
Another asked: “Why pretend to be subtle by saying “you know what we’re [referring] to” and then hamfist it with a comment about a ball gag?”
A third commented: “I never know which way to draw the line on these sorts of things.
“On the one hand, no one has a right to complete and total silence at all times.
“You have to be able to tolerate some of the noises that other people make, reasonably.
“But when it comes to annoying sounds or sex sounds? I don’t know. Maybe we ought to tolerate that a little more as long as it isn’t too often?”
Another replied: “IDK….I’d be pretty humiliated but it would make me quieten down.”
One noisy neighbour added: “Oh dear. I had a neighbor years back come up to my door with a bag of oranges and asked me to please mind my fun times as he had work early every morning.
“It was horribly awkward and hilarious but I can tell ya, I was glad to mind our… romance noises for the week or two after that.
“I then had to break up with my partner, entirely unrelated to my neighbor speaking up, and I found a tiny bit of solace in knowing that my neighbor was probably thrilled at how excessively receptive I was to his request.”
What did you think of the note? Should the neighbour have spoken to them directly? Let us know in the comments
