Steps star Lee Latchford-Evans has had to pull out of the band’s final tour dates after testing positive for Covid-19, just as Faye Tozer is able to return.

The band shared a statement on Instagram confirming that the remaining members – Faye, Claire Richards, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, and Lisa Scott-Lee – will continue with the remaining shows.

It began: ‘We are sorry to report that in disappointing news, Lee this morning tested positive for Covid-19 which means he is now isolating and will unfortunately be absent for the remainder of our ‘What The Future Holds’ tour.

‘We intend to carry on with the remaining three shows while the rest of us test negative.

‘In good news, in line with government guidelines, Faye returns from her isolation today and will be performing at the O2 tonight.

‘We will continue Covid testing ourselves and all our crew daily. We hope you will join us in wishing Lee a speedy recovery.’

Faye, 46, previously had to pull out of tour dates as she also tested positive for the virus, admitting she was ‘baffled’ after the band had been so strict on preventative measures.

The 90s pop superstars reunited for the first time in 2017 with a number two album, Tears On The Dancefloor.

Their sixth album, What The Future Holds, was released last November with the band embarking on a two-month UK arena tour.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Lee welcomed a baby with his wife Kerry.

The 46-year-old announced that he and Kerry were proud parents to a baby boy, sharing a black and white snap of them holding their son’s hand.

Lee wrote: ‘Welcome to the world baby boy. Me & your mummy @kerrylucyinsta are so in love! You’re everything we could have wished for & more, Our perfect rainbow baby.’
