‘Stay safe!’ Kenny Dalglish sends message to Liverpool fans amid Champions League final chaos

Sir Kenny Dalglish urged Liverpool fans to stay safe amid the chaotic scenes in Paris which marred the build-up to Saturday’s Champions League final in Paris.

Kick-off at the Stade de France was delayed by 30 minutes amid reports that thousands of Liverpool fans had been tear gassed by French police as they attempted to enter the stadium.

Dalglish, who laid a wreath prior to kick-off in memory of the victims of the Heysel disaster where 39 peopled died ahead of the 1985 European Cup final, tweeted from the stands urging supporters of the club to stay safe.

He said: ‘Kick-off delayed by 15 minutes. Stay safe everyone and if you know anybody waiting to get in, let them know that they have time.’
