Solskjaer 'wants to axe six Man Utd stars in January' with talks set this week

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could offload as many as six of his Manchester United first team stars this month.

The Norwegian will sit down for crunch talks with a cluster of his squad ahead of some cut throat decisions.

United are still in the midst of overhauling their squad, a process that has no doubt been delayed following a poor summer transfer window.

Solskjaer is continuing to put his stamp on the team though and has areas he wants to address.

Sergio Romero is almost certain to leave having been denied a move away in the summer.

He is yet to feature this season and United are poised to cash in on him.

Jesse Lingard has only played in cup games

Defenders Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones also don’t appear to be part of Solskjaer’s plans going forward with replacements in the backline on his wish list.

Rojo has long been linked with pastures new while Jones’ time at Old Trafford has been hampered by injures.

Nevertheless they are keen to rid of his £75,000-a-week wages with West Brom thought to be keen, reports The Sun.

Jesse Lingard, who recently had a one-year contract extension triggered, has been on the periphery of the first team.

His only appearances have come in the Carabao Cup and his form has dropped off massively since Solskjaer first arrived.

Daniel James has been linked with a move to Leeds

Daniel James is another player in something of a limbo, although he is closer to first team action.

He has only been a United player for 18 months but is by no means a regular with a move to Leeds touted.

Youngster Brandon Williams meanwhile could be set for some temporary time away to further his development.

Southampton and Bayern Munich are both keen on loan moves for the 20-year-old.

Solskjaer will sit down with all six individuals at Carrington to discuss their future moves.

United are prepared to make moves in the market over the next month should one of their targets become available.
