Solskjaer admits he's "very excited" to welcome new £37m signing to Man Utd

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he’s “very excited” to welcome Amad Diallo to Old Trafford this month.

The Red Devils agreed a deal with the winger back in October, and will pay Serie A side Atalanta an initial £19million for Diallo.

The transfer hinged on a work permit being accepted, but Solskjaer is confident the Red Devils have their ducks in a row and that the deal will go through.

Speaking on the eve of the January transfer window opening, the Manchester United boss revealed his excitement in welcoming the teenager to Old Trafford this month.

Solskjaer said: “We have had all the paperwork, I can’t see any obstacles. He’s coming.

“I hope very soon he will be with us. I’m very excited about bringing him in. I think he’s shown a few times his qualities.

“That’s the big thing. We have targets we need long-term for the club.”

The total fee Man United have agreed to stump up for Diallo is £36million. But this will be paid in installments when bonus-related clauses in the winger’s contract are triggered.

Diallo joins at a good time with the Red Devils second to Liverpool only on goal difference.

United beat Aston Villa on Friday night. Speaking to the press, Solskjaer said: “We’ve improved. I think the league and the season is going to be so tight.

“We’ve just got to keep working and improving as a team. Every time you win a game you take one step further. You’ve just got to accumulate the points. They all count the same.”
