Shia LaBeouf is reportedly ‘seeking long-term treatment’ after his ex-girlfriend FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of abuse.

The singer – real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett – has accused LaBeouf of sexual and physical abuse, which he has largely denied.

The actor’s lawyer Shawn Holley has since issued a statement, saying: ‘Shia needs help and he knows that.’

She added to Variety: ‘We are actively seeking the kind of meaningful, intensive, long-term inpatient treatment that he desperately needs.’

Twigs’ lawyer, Bryan Freedman, added to the site that the lawsuit was filed after LaBeouf was allegedly ‘unwilling to agree to get appropriate help’.

He added: ‘This isn’t about Shia’s career.

‘This is about making sure the trauma and pain inflicted on my clients and others doesn’t happen again. Shia is an admitted abuser and he needs to get meaningful help that addresses his violent behavior.’

Holley denied the claims, saying LaBeouf ‘immediately accepted responsibility for the many things he had done wrong and expressed his willingness to do what Twigs wanted him to do.’

Twigs recently filed a lawsuit, claiming she was subject to ‘relentless abuse’ during her relationship with the actor, which lasted just under a year.

The Two Weeks singer’s suit alleges that LaBeouf was driving recklessly in a car with his girlfriend shortly after Valentine’s Day in 2019 before removing his seatbelt and threatening to crash unless she professed her love for him.

Twigs alleges that LaBeouf threw her against the car at a gas station while screaming in her face.

The 32-year-old also alleges that the Transformers star, 34, knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

LaBeouf did not address specific claims in the lawsuit, telling the New York Times: ‘I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel.

‘I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalisations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.’

A former girlfriend of LaBeouf’s, Karolyn Pho, also alleges that the actor once headbutted her after drunkenly pinning her to a bed.

LaBeouf said in a separate email to the Times that ‘many of these allegations are not true’, but said that he owed the women ‘the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done’.
