Sharon Osbourne says 'we need some funny' as she dishes about hosting The Talk from home quarantine

The Talk is proving resilient during the coronavirus pandemic and returning to television with a revamped at-home version.

Host Sharon Osbourne exclusively chatted with DailyMailTV from her newly minted home studio to dish about The Talk@Home and what it’s been like on quarantine with husband Ozzy Osbourne.

After being forced to suspend production, along with Sharon, co-hosts Sheryl Underwood, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba and Marie Osmond, first returned with one-on-one celebrity interviews on Instagram.

All of the hosts are now back together (sort of) to host new episodes from their respective homes using Zoom technology but Sharon told DailyMailTV that it is still hard not being together.

‘It’s very different and it’s a bit sterile,’ the 67-year-old said of hosting the series separately.

‘But just to be back and talking and doing something,’ Sharon continued. ‘And, for the fans of the show to at least have a few minutes away from what’s going on.’

Last week, her co-host Carrie Ann Inaba told DailyMailTV that putting together the Instagram version of the show helped to give her a feeling a normalcy but similarly added that quarantine is difficult.

‘I think just like everyone else, self-quarantine and isolation is hard,’ Carrie Ann said. ‘It’s challenging. There’s like a roller coaster of emotions.’

The Talk returned to the airwaves with a new show on Monday and the gang got together to share their experiences during self-isolation and brought on Let’s Make a Deal host Wayne Brady as a guest.

Sharon said that the show is lining up some great talent to join them during their home production.

‘We need some funny people right now,’ Sharon quipped. ‘And we’ve got Terry Crews and we’ve got Dr. Oz.’

Meanwhile, Sharon has been isolating at home with husband Ozzy Osbourne, who has Parkinson’s Disease.

‘I’m freaking out, totally freaked out by all of this,’ the host said. ‘There are no rules to this thing, everybody is in danger.’

‘I’ve got cabin fever, I’ll go outside and do a little walk around the garden and take a deep breath and “all right let’s start again.”‘

Sharon added: ‘It’s hard being locked in.’

The lockdown also prevented Sharon and Ozzy from being able to support their eldest daughter who recently had to go to the hospital to have her appendix removed.

‘My daughter Aimee got sick and had to go to the hospital and we couldn’t go with her,’ she recalled. ‘It’s like, oh my lord you, can’t even… everyone’s on their own right now.’

On Monday’s episode of The Talk@Home, Sharon told her co-hosts that she and Ozzy have been forced to cancel a planned trip to Switzerland where the rocker was set to undergo treatment for Parkinson’s.

One brighter moment during their isolation was seeing younger daughter Kelly Osbourne for the first time in weeks. The family kept themselves protected with masks and gloves, as well as maintaining social-distancing protocols.

Kelly shared a snap of the trio sitting by the pool: ‘Today was the first time I got to see my parents in almost 3 weeks!!! Even though i did not get to hug them…. at this point I will take what I can get.’

‘They are doing well and are save and sound for now. Thank you so much for your continued well wishes love and support. We will get through this together. I love you all’

Kelly later revealed that afterwards her dad sent her a text telling her it broke his heart not to be able to give her a hug and a kiss when they were together.
