A Federal lawmaker representing Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has distributed no fewer than 315 water pumping machines to farmers in the state, which are part of the efforts to improve agricultural activities among farmers in rural communities
The presentation ceremony which took place during the weekend at the palace of the Emir of Keffi, had in attendance supporters and stakeholders of the All Progresives Congress (APC) from the zone.
The beneficiaries of the Senator’s Agricultural Scheme, were farmers from the five (5) LGA that constitute Nasarawa West senatorial zone, the first class traditional rulers, party leaders and the Nigerian Army from the 177 guard battalion, shehu Alao barracks, keffi, who are into farming.
After the presentation of the items to them, Senator Adamu, who is also the Chairman, Senate committee on Agriculture, said the project which is dear to his heart was embarked upon to put smiles on people’s faces, boost agriculture, increase food sufficiency and reduce unemployment and solicited the support of all to encourage him sustain the schedme, while calling on the people to place more attention on issues of agriculture .
In his words; “It is from my heart to Initiate this project, I have been doing this and I will continue doing it to assist my constituents. I appreciate your support to me. To the beneficiaries, I want to urge you to try as much as possible to use the machines giving to you. If you do that, you will benefit at the end”.
The Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa Ill, who was visibly happy with the magnanimity shown by the senator, showered accolades on him for initiating agricultural schemes that would benefit the people.
He urged the beneficiaries to always support a politician that carried his people along in the formulation of his policies and programmes.
In his remarks, the acting chairman of the All Progressivs Congress, Nasarawa State Mr. John Mammam, who expressed happiness over the gesture by Senator Adamu, disclosed that the distribution of the water pumping machines was done not on the basis of political parties, religion or tribes but was for everybody irrespective of where the farmer hails from and their degree of involment and commitment.
He warned against selling of the items by individuals, urging them to take proper use of the machines to enable them increase their farming productivity.
In their separate remarks, the APC Chairman for Keffi ward, Abdullahi Alkasim and Labaran Ishaku who were beneficiaries, described the distribution of water pumping machines by the senator as commendable, saying that it would help in boosting their farming activities, and advised other politicians to emulate Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, for the benefit of all.
