The letter from Sir Mark Sedwill reveals his innermost thoughts on Brexit, which also sees him go on to praise the Prime Minister and his team on their “ambitious pace” to deliever it. It goes on to add he is on a listening tour to “ensure I understand clearly the challenges and pressures at the sharp end”. It adds that Sir Mark is “mindful of my constitutional role” in the Brexit process.
Sir Mark adds: “The new government has set an ambitious agenda and a breakneck pace as they develop their domestic programme and seek to deliver Brexit by 31 October.
“I am really proud of how the Civil Service has responded, particularly in accelerating Brexit preparations, demonstrating once again that we deserve our rating as the world’s best civil service.
“Ministers are also pleased an impressed and have seen the resilience of the system over the summer period while maintaining the pace of delivery.”
