Samsung is preparing to hold a special event next week in which it will reveal its new smartphones to the world.

Problem is, we already know what’s coming.

The South Korean company has effectively confirmed the raft of leaks that have spread across the internet over recent weeks about what it’s got planned.

The Samsung Unpacked event, taking place virtually on August 11, will unveil new versions of the company’s futuristic folding phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 3 will be the headline attraction as Samsung continues to refine its folding devices.

While the former will look like a regular smartphone that hinges open like a paperback book, the latter will resemble one of the old school clamshell phones.

Perhaps sensing the cat is somewhat out of the bag, Samsung’s president and head of mobile communications business TM Roh, wrote a blog post about what’s coming up.

‘We kept improving the category with our second generation of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold2 and the Galaxy Z Flip, with more screens and more of the features you now know and love,’ he wrote.

‘I’m excited to say our third generation of foldable devices will open up amazing new multitasking capabilities and enhanced durability for even more people around the world.’

‘The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold combines the very best that smartphones and tablets offer and delivers completely new ways of working, connecting and creating, while the upcoming Z Flip exhibits an even more refined style, armed with more durable, stronger materials.

‘I firmly believe these devices will answer the call for the versatile mobile technology we need as we navigate the open road ahead.’

Phone fans have been discussing the upcoming devices on Twitter for several months now.

The consensus seems to be the Flip 3 specs will include 6.7-inch and 1.9-inch displays, a dual 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 10-megapixel selfie cam.

Meanwhile, the Fold 3 will offer a 7.6-inch foldable screen, 6.2-inch external display, triple 12-megapixel camera, 10-megapixel cover selfie camera, and 4-megapixel primary selfie camera.

Both phones will presumably run the very latest Snapdragon processors and be fully up to speed with 5G. The price will almost certainly bring a tear to your eye, too.

Samsung is also expected to reveal the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch at the event next week.
