Ryan Giggs has picked a star-studded team when asked to name his dream Manchester United six-a-side outfit, although the likes of David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Eric Cantona all miss out.

Having played in the United first team for 24 years Giggs was not short of options when asked to put together a side of his former teammates.

There were inevitably going to be big names missing out, but the side he has come up with is difficult to argue with, lining up Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney together.

‘[Peter] Schmeichel would be the goalkeeper,’ said Giggs. ‘Jaap [Stam] would be the whole back four, Keaney, then the rest are going to be forward players. Scholesy, Ronaldo and Rooney.’

Giggs picked out Ronaldo and Scholes as the two players who stand out most to him from his glittering Manchester United career.

He believes the Portuguese superstar is the best player he has played with, although Scholes gets the nod as his best Manchester United teammate due to his amazing longevity at the club.

‘The best player I played with is Cristiano Ronaldo,’ said the Wales manager.

‘Obviously he was only there for a short space of time and he was brilliant for United and then went on to do even better elsewhere. Or not even better just as well as United.

‘Scholesy is the best player I’ve played with at United, you’ve all seen it in training you couldn’t get near him.

‘His brain was just quicker than everyone else, his range of passing, nasty.

‘You think you’ve got him and he’ll just pop it off and give it the little feint. He was just brilliant in training.’
