Ryan Giggs has denied assaulting his girlfriend, Kate Greville, after he was arrested over the allegation on Sunday.

Police were called to the Manchester United legend’s property in Worsley, Manchester on Sunday night and Giggs was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.

The Wales manager was released on bail, leaving Pendleton police station on Monday afternoon, and has now publicly denied the allegations.

A statement on behalf of Giggs read: ‘Mr Giggs denies all allegations of assault made against him.

‘He is co-operating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigations.’

A spokesperson from the Greater Manchester police told the Sun: ‘Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment,’

‘A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.’

The Football Associaton of Wales has confirmed that Giggs will not take charge of the upcoming games against USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland this month.

A statement confirmed: ‘The Football Association of Wales and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp.

‘Our agreed immediate priority is preparing the team for the upcoming international matches.

‘Robert Page, with Ryan’s support, will take charge for the next three matches against the USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland supported by Albert Stuivenberg.’

Giggs has been dating Greville since 2018 following the break-up of his marriage to Stacey Giggs.

The pair had married in 2007 but they divorced in 2017 after Ryan’s eight-year long affair with his brother’s wife, Natasha Lever.

Giggs went public with Greville in 2018 but the pair met five years earlier, when Kate was involved in Giggs’ Hotel Football business that he runs alongside the likes of Gary Neville and Paul Scholes.
