Ryan Giggs' dad backs former Man Utd star over girlfriend row arrest

Ryan Giggs’ estranged dad is backed him over allegations he assaulted his girlfriend.

Danny Wilson, 65, said: “I just don’t believe it… Ryan may be a womaniser but he’s not violent.”

Mr Wilson fell out with the football star over his affair with brother Rhodri’s then-wife.

But ex-rugby league pro Danny said of Ryan, now suspended as manager of the Welsh national side: “I haven’t talked to him about this but I back him all the way – it’s just not him.”

He added: “I don’t know what happened but I can tell you my son is not a violent person.”

Giggs, 46, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend Kate Greville, 36.

Police had been called to his £1.7million home in Worsley, Greater Manchester.

Giggs, whose bail conditions bar him from contacting Kate, denies the allegations.

Giggs won’t take charge of Wales in their upcoming matches

Giggs had been at Hotel Football, in Manchester, which he co-owns, earlier in the day to see Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat by Arsenal.

He is then believed to have gone to the Stock Exchange Hotel, which he also co-owns, in the city.

Giggs has been dating Kate on and off since 2017.
