Royal Family’s secret Wimbledon tennis perk accidentally revealed by David Beckham

Kate is patron of Wimbledon Tennis Club and can regularly be seen alongside other members of the Royal Family at the annual championships in the royal box. Alongside the Royal Family, celebrities and public figures are often also invited to watch the annual tennis event in the royal box. This year, David Beckham was one of those lucky enough to receive an invite to tournament, however, a picture uploaded by the former footballer gave accidentally gave away a hidden secret about the royal box.

Beckham uploaded a picture to Instagram of himself and his mum, Sandra, enjoying an afternoon out at SW19 captioned: “Fun day at Wimbledon with mum. #tradition @wimbledon @sandra_beckham49.”

A closer look, however, shows players frozen in time on a a personalised television fitted into the box, Hello! reports.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray’s mother Judy gave another special insight of Wimbledon.

Posing a snap of her plate she boasted on Twitter: “Afternoon tea in @Wimbledon’s Royal Box. Jealous?”

The quirky plate featured Wimbledon London Underground sign cake, a chocolate racket cake and among other delights a carrot cake too.

Royal box seats are strictly reserved for friends and guests of Wimbledon.

The official website reads: “British and overseas royal families, heads of government, people from the world of tennis, commercial partners, British Armed Forces, prominent media organisations, supporters of tennis and other walks of life.”

Tomorrow, Kate is set to be joined by sister-in-law Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, in the royal box to watch the women’s singles final.

Italian Simona Halep will take on Serena Williams in the match to be crowned Wimbledon champion.

Williams is a close friend of the Duchess of Sussex, who is likely to be rooting for her in the final.

Last week Meghan caused a stir when she made a surprise appearance at the tournament to support her friend.

The Duchess of Sussex ruffled feathers after fans sitting near her were told not to take photos. She was also criticised for her choice of outfit consisting of a casual pair of jeans.
