Roy Keane blasted Tottenham Hotspur after their 3-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday evening, describing them as boring and abysmal, while referring to an old Alex Ferguson phrase: ‘It’s Spurs’.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side turned in a woeful performance in north London as they were comfortably beaten by the Red Devils.

Tottenham failed to produce a single shot on target during the feeble loss, finishing the match with 58 per cent possession, but doing almost nothing with it.

Keane had little positive to say about the Tottenham team, remembering how the United team he played in used to simply assume they would beat Spurs every single time they played them.

‘Once they got the first goal it was just a matter of how many they were going to score,’ Keane told Sky Sports. ‘It was a perfect game for Man United, going back to when I played, we used to say: “It’s Spurs. You will beat Spurs.”

‘This Spurs team were desperate. The biggest criticism I can give this Spurs team, they were 2-0 down and got a corner after 75 minutes, they kept three players back. 2-0 down, at home.

‘Abysmal. But for United, job done.

‘Spurs are boring, they’re boring to watch, really boring.

‘They’re the home team, it was like the stadium was empty. Where’s that bit of energy? A bit of urgency. There was nothing, I couldn’t believe how bad they were.’

Tottenham sink to eighth in the Premier League table after the defeat, with Manchester United rising to fifth and right in the hunt for a Champions League place.

The Red Devils are only outside of the top four on goal difference and just three points behind Manchester City in third.
