Rio Ferdinand sends Man Utd board message ahead of summer transfer window


Rio Ferdinand reckons Manchester United chiefs should focus on signing the world’s best youngsters.

The Red Devils didn’t bring in any new faces as they decided not to pay the inflated prices being quoted in the January window.

United spent £53million on Fred last summer but the Brazilian has failed to justify his huge price tag.

And United legend Ferdinand wants United chiefs to concentrate their efforts on landing the best up and coming players from around the globe.

He told BT Sport: “This is what Man United need to do now – get the best young talent, go and sweep up Europe and the world.

“That’s what we used to do.”

Meanwhile, Ferdinand has hailed the impact of former Old Trafford team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian is in pole position to land the job on a permanent basis after leading them to 10 wins in 11 games.

Ferdinand sent fans into meltdown with his five-word tweet following Saturday’s win over Fulham .

He wrote: “We got our UNITED BACK”
