Rio Ferdinand says he is hearing lots of good things from behind the scenes at Aston Villa, with Steven Gerrard and his coaching staff making a brilliant impression at the club.

Gerrard took over as Villa boss earlier this month and has had a wonderful start to his stint with the club, winning his first two matches and climbing to 13th in the Premier League table.

The back-to-back wins over Brighton and Crystal Palace have boosted morale at Villa Park, as have the training sessions led by Gerrard and his staff, according to Ferdinand.

The former Manchester United star says Gerrard has made an instant impact on the training pitch, swiftly getting his ideas across and the results are proof that his plans are working already.

‘What a result by the way, for Villa at Palace to do that, Palace have been going well, not fearing teams,’ Ferdinand said on Vibe with FIVE.

‘I’m hearing some really good, good vibes that are coming out of Villa, the way that they’re training. They’re super impressed with his coaching staff.

‘The clarity with which they’re training, they’ve got a clear idea what they’re going to do.

‘Enjoying the sessions and getting the results right now, so there’s some positive stuff right now.’

Things are about to get more difficult for Gerrard and his side as they take on Manchester City in the Premier Leageu on Wednesday at Villa Park.

Leicester City then pay them a visit on Sunday before Villa travel to Liverpool on 11 December in an emotional clash for Gerrard.

If Gerrard can come out of those three games with any positive results then his methods on the training ground will have proved successful again.
