Richarlison’s sly dig at Liverpool did not get missed by Everton fans ahead of the Merseyside derby.
The Reds were utterly dominated by Aston Villa in a shock 7-2 result – the worst result a reigning Premier League champion has suffered in the league.
Ollie Watkins scored a perfect hat-trick while there were also goals for Jack Grealish, Ross Barkley and John McGinn.
The result was made worse by the fact that many Liverpool players jetted off for international duty the next day.
It has meant that they will not be able to train with one another and figure out where it went wrong.
And when they return, they will have just two days before facing an upbeat Everton in the Premier League on October 17.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men are top of the table after four wins in four and Richarlison has started the mind-games.
The Brazilian posted on social media a picture of himself, showcasing his No. 7 shirt, with a background screen reading the word ‘GOAL!’.
The sly jibe at Liverpool was not lost on Everton fans, who revelled in their striker’s mischief.
One fan said: “LOOOOOOL what a hero.”
Another replied: “Absolutely love you mate.”
While a third posted: “hahaha yes love it Richy lad. Up the Top Of The League Toffees!!”
Liverpool’s mammoth loss was downplayed by Klopp, who has insisted that the match was a one-off.
He added: “For different reasons Aston Villa, who did really well tonight, forced all the mistakes that we made.
“We played into their hands with the first goal and with the second, and the third. Then the game has a specific direction.
“For me, we put all our rubbish things in one game. Fine, we can start again. I cannot change that now.
“I am 53 and have saw everything in football but it doesn’t mean I have a solution for everything.
“Villa did really well but we did so bad. We can defend so much better than tonight. We lost it in the wrong moments. It is difficult and that means we cannot score.”
