Resident Evil-like Daymare: 1998 coming out same month as Resident Evil 3 remake

The Resident Evil inspired Daymare: 1998 will be coming to consoles in late April, and it will be competing with the Resident Evil 3 remake.

If you’re as disappointed with the recently released Dawn Of Fear as we were, you might be thrilled to know that another title inspired by Resident Evil is making its way to consoles very soon.

Developed by Invader Studios and titled Daymare: 1998, this one is actually much closer to being a genuine Resident Evil game, having started life as a fan remake of Resident Evil 2.

While it did unfortunately lead to Capcom requesting for the development on the project to cease, due to it working on its own Resident Evil 2 remake, this only led to it evolving into its own original work.

The game released on Steam back in September and received mostly mixed to positive reviews, and has clearly done well enough to make the jump to consoles.

But in a slightly shocking move, it will be releasing in April, the same month as the much hyped Resident Evil 3 remake. Between the two, it’s safe to assume that the much more iconic Resident Evil 3 will dominate the sales charts.

However, Resident Evil 3 will release on 3 April, whereas Daymare is set to come out towards the end of the month, so it’s not like it’s trying to challenge Capcom’s juggernaut of a title.

As for fans of survival-horror, they get to enjoy being scared by two new games that month. Looks like Halloween is coming early.

Daymare: 1998 will release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 28 April.
