CHELSEA fans are rejoicing at the news that Reece James is back in training.
But one person who won’t be too happy with that news is defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
Frank Lampard is expected to blood James into his starting XI once the full-back has been brought up to full fitness.
And that is likely to be at the expense of Azpilicueta – which is exciting Blues fans.
Chelsea shared a video of 19-year-old James dropping his crutches to the floor, captioning it “drop those”.
The player himself then shared a photo of him training, writing “It’s been a while”.
The teenager has been out of action with an ankle ligament injury picked up on England U20 international duty.
On the news that James is back in training breaking, Chelsea fans were a happy bunch.
Many wrote that him returning means “Azpi is finished” – the Spaniard has looked off the pace at the start the new Premier League season.
One Blues supporter wrote that “It’s time for Azpi to say goodbye”, and another wrote that “Azpi is crying”.
“Zach” wrote that the teenager is “coming for Azpilicueta’s starting spot.
AZPI GIVING AWAY GOALS
Most wrote how “excited” they were at his return and that it was “about time too”.
As well as fans questioning whether Azpilicueta can still cut it at the top level, his errors have already been highlighted by pundits.
After a 1-1 draw against Leicester, Souness said: “Azpilicueta has been a brilliant defender for Chelsea but he doesn’t know Ndidi is there for the goal, he’s just watching the ball.
“He looks over his right shoulder and he stops that.”
“He gave two goals away last week and gave this goal away today as well.”
Chelsea legend Ashley Cole agreed.
He said: “Azpilicueta’s body shape is wrong. If he’d opened his body up a bit more he would’ve stopped him.”
