Real Madrid 'plot surprise swoop to sign ex-Tottenham star Serge Aurier' on free transfer

After Spurs confirmed his departure, Aurier stated he was ready for a ‘new challenge’ in his brief goodbye message.

He said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Spurs and would like to thank the club and the fans, but I feel now is the right time for me to move onto a new challenge.”

Real Madrid would undoubtedly present a fresh challenge and an exciting opportunity after a mixed stint in north London.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to label Aurier moving to the 13-time European champions as surprising, given he struggled to cement a starting spot at Spurs.
