Ratchet & Clank is second biggest PS5 launch ever – Games charts 5 June

Another first party success story (pic: Sony)

Yet another Sony exclusive has made it to the top of the UK sales charts, with Ratchet & Clank selling three times more than Returnal.

Insomniac Games has earned its second UK number one on the PlayStation 5, with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart selling more than three times that of Returnal but less than Insomniac’s other PlayStation 5 title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

It’s also the second most successful Ratchet & Clank launch in the franchise’s 20-year history, behind the 2016 PlayStation 4 remake of the original. Although that’s not taking into account the rise in digital downloads since then, or the fact that PlayStation 4 game was considerably cheaper.

The second highest new entry of the week was Chivalry 2 at number nine, while Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade only made it as far as number 12 – with many fans no doubt taking advantage of the free upgrade so they could buy the new DLC episode digitally. Bringing up the rear was fighting game Guilty Gear -Strive- at number 26.
