Raphael Varane has compared Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘s Manchester United training sessions to those at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman spent 10 years in the Spanish capital, winning three La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.

Varane has now appeared twice for the Red Devils after signing during the summer transfer window for an initial £34 million and is in United’s starting XI to face West Ham on Sunday.

The 28-year-old seems to be enjoying life in Manchester, having helped his new team to two wins in the Premier League while impressing supporters.

Ahead of the Red Devils’ trip to London, he lifted the lid on how his settling in period has been at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Norway’s TV2, Varane said: “I have just started my adventure here, but I feel that the training sessions are very detailed and the goal is always that we should be at our best at all times.”

He praised Solskjaer by saying: “He always tries to talk to the players so that he knows how we feel after the matches, and he tells us where we can get better.

“The communication is good and it is about working together, so that together we can achieve success through good performances on the field.”

Ex-Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo has also joined Varane at United and the France international is delighted to have the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in the same dressing room as him again.

“He is an exceptional football player and I am very happy that he came here,” stated the centre-back.

“He’s nice to have in the closet. He is always positive and he always has a joke in store. Despite his age, he is better than he has ever been and due to his work ethic and his competitive instinct, I still think he has many years ahead of him.”

The defender added: “It is very nice to have him on the team, because you know that he will score many goals, so it is better to have him with you than against him.”

With Ronaldo back as a Red Devil again after leaving in 2009, Varane’s belief is that United can win “everything” if they reach their potential.

“I honestly believe that there are enough qualities and skills in this group to fight at the top, both in Europe and England,” he stated.

“For us, it is about creating a chemistry and a collective strength, that is what you need. But there is all the world’s potential here and we have everything you need to win things.
