Thousands of students remain in lockdown heading into the weekend, as coronavirus cases surge at UK universities and calls for refunds on tuition fees grow louder.
Over 40 higher education institutions have now reported cases, leading to accusations that the government and universities recruited students on false pretences due to a reliance on rental payments.
Pressure on the government further intensified after Boris Johnson’s admission that he “misspoke” during a government briefing, wrongly explaining that people in the North East could mix with other households.
And the EU added to Johnson’s list of headaches, announcing that they will launch legal action against the government over plans to break international law through the passing of the Internal Market Bill.
