Ashley James has said that she tried to “switch off” for the rest of the festive period, after a labour ‘scare’ on Boxing Day.
The 33-year-old former Made In Chelsea star took this as a warning as she enters the last weeks of her pregnancy and decided to form a “positive bubble” with her boyfriend Tommy Andrews.
This has meant that she has turned off the news and has concentrated on making sure she is calm and relaxed as well as enjoying walks through a “very empty London”.
Tier 4 restrictions has meant that the streets of the capital are far less busy than they normally are and reality star Ashley said this is perfect for romantic strolls.
Ashley shared photos of her in a dark green coat and tan turtle neck jumper as she looks sensational for her winter walk, with her January due date looming large on the horizon.
Alongside the pics, Ashley wrote: “My word of the year is definitely perinium, as it’s something I’d never heard of until pregnancy…
“And I don’t know about you guys, but this time of year definitely feels like the perinium. Not quite Christmas, not quite New Year.”
The social media influencer continued: “I think this year feels particularly weird, what with the restrictions and what with being heavily pregnant and waiting for the baby to arrive…
“I’ve always struggled with switching off and not being productive (it’s something I used to pride myself on as I saw productivity being a sign of success, but now I realise was high functioning anxiety), but I’ve really tried to switch off this Christmas.
“We’ve watched films and series (I fully recommend Soul, Industry, and the Nest) and went on long dog walks… But it definitely felt a little like Groundhog Day.”
To try and break from this routine, Ashley shared that getting out in the fresh air was the way forward.
She continued: “So anyway, today we decided to dress up and switched up our route to walk through a very empty London.
“There’s something very magical about London being so quiet, like we have the city to ourselves. We’ve avoided the news and are just staying in our positive little bubble.
“Now I’m back on the sofa watching the Nest with Snoop spooning my bump as the baby kicks. Hope you’re all enjoying this perinium part of the year. ❤️”
Ashley had previously revealed that she thought labour had started on Boxing Day, only for it to be a false alarm.
In a candid video posted on her Instagram Stories on Monday, Ashley told her 280,000 followers that was now getting impatient for the arrival of her baby boy.
She admitted that she is “so sure” that she is going into labour “every day”, as she spoke about the time of year between Christmas and New Year.
Ashley explained: “I feel like this is obviously such a weird time of year anyway like in ‘normal life’ between Christmas and New Year, but obviously with 2020 it’s even weirder and then waiting for the baby to come is even weirder!
“Like I just feel like I’m in this groundhog day, weird place. And look we’ve got all the bags by the door here, and then we’ve got like the car seat and the pillow here cos we were so sure it was happening on Boxing Day.
“So every day we are like ‘it’s going to be today’ and it’s not! So I’m probably being quite quiet on here but I’m just in this weird like mental place of waiting.
“It’s just hard to think about anything else really.”
