Police commission debunks purported threats to sack officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has debunked reports that it threatened to sack police officers who failed to return to work in the aftermath of #EndSARS violence in the country.

The Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani denied the claims in a statement released on Sunday.

According to Ani, the Police Service commission did not at any time say officers who refused to get back to work will be punished.

He added that the Commission would continue to do its best to ensure the police were motivated to do its job.

Ani also expressed sadness over the killing of policemen and arson carried out in several stations set across the country.

“It would be very insensitive for anyone to say the Commission will dismiss any policeman who didn’t return to work. The Commission is even at present mourning the deaths of its gallant officers who were killed in the crisis”, PSC said.
