Pokémon Legends: Arceus is already on Twitch – gameplay & story leaks abound

The newest Pokémon game has broken its street date and is now in peoples’ hands, which means spoilers have quickly spread online.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have been incredibly (but not surprisingly) secretive about Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It wasn’t even entirely clear what the game was until last week, when the companies shared a new gameplay trailer.

Despite their best efforts to prevent leaks, physical copies of the game have managed to end up in peoples’ hands anyway ahead of the official release. Naturally, eager fans have spent the last few days sharing as much info on the game as they could, meaning the Internet is now rife with spoilers.

Some particularly bold individuals have even been streaming the game on Twitch. At the time of writing, at least 10 people are livestreaming Pokémon Legends although it’s only a matter of time until Nintendo catches on and moves to stop it.

We won’t go into specifics, but it’s been said that the leaked info includes gameplay functions, story details, and every new pokémon and Hisuian form.

Fans who wish to go in blind are advised to be cautious on social media; it’s recommended that you mute any words associated with the game, so spoiler-filled posts don’t unexpectedly jump out at you and ruin your day like a wild Zubat.

The Pokémon franchise has been the subject of a number of leaks in recent years, which is why Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have only become more and more secretive about it. Although there’s little they can do if a retailer leaks a physical copy.

The last mainline games, Pokémon Sword and Shield, broke their street date too, allowing early birds to play through the game and leak the entire list of new and returning pokémon.

Pages from its own strategy guide were shared online ahead of release too, resulting in a lawsuit that saw the ones responsible pay Nintendo £100,000. The company also cut ties with a Portuguese website when one of its staff shared images of the game early from the review code they were given.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus will officially release on January 28 for Nintendo Switch.
