Pochettino gives verdict on Mourinho replacing him at Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he has bears no ill towards Jose Mourinho after he replaced him at Tottenham.

The Special One arrived as manager of Spurs just hours after Daniel Levy axed Poch in a whirlwind period for the club.

The Argentine had been in charge of the north London outfit for five years and had just taken them to a first-ever Champions League final.

But just months into the 2019/20 season, Pochettino was sacked after a poor start to the campaign.

The move shocked the footballing world – almost as much as Mourinho being named soon after.

And in the following transfer windows, the Portuguese coach was given some huge funds that saw the arrivals of the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Giovani Lo Celso, Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon.

The kind of money being spent was not available to Pochettino, but he has insisted that he is happy Tottenham are spending due to his love for the club.

Furthermore, he has no problem with his “good friend” Mourinho taking the reins.

After being asked if he was frustrated the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager was given the sort of backing he did not get, Poch said: “No, no. I think it’s fantastic for Tottenham.

“After one year of course I was disappointed, a little bit upset, of course not happy when you leave a club.

“After five and a half years the relationship is massive with staff, players, fans. But at some point I understand football.
