Popular pizza chain Pizza Express has launched its first ever vegan restaurant in London.

The new brand, based in The Strand, will provide a vegan alternative to some of its most famous dishes, including the ‘American Jack’ and the ‘Pollo Ad Astra’ which will be changed to the ‘Vegan Ad Astra’.

The ‘American Jack’ will feature jackfruit ‘pepperoni’ and tomato with vegan mozzarella while the ‘Vegan Ad Astra’ will be a Quorn pizza with red peppers, Cajun spice, red onion, tomato, garlic oil, and vegan mozzarella.

Modelling itself off of the Vegan Pret, the Vegan Pizza Express is already open, and will exclusively serve plant-based food.

Pizza Express will also be launching a brand-new menu in its standard restaurants on Tuesday 21 September, which will see the biggest number of vegan options too.

The brand has been working with Jack and Bry for over a year in order to develop an exclusive vegan pepperoni, and it will be included in several vegan versions of classic Pizza Express recipes.

‘It goes without saying that we’re incredibly excited to launch even more vegan versions of classic Pizza Express recipes across the UK this Autumn,’ says Jane Treasure, Food & Beverage Director at Pizza Express.

She said, ‘Every single one of our new vegan pizzas stay true to the unique flavours of the original versions.’

Shadi Halliwell, Chief Customer Officer at Pizza Express, added: ‘Our new vegan menu is so wide-ranging and delicious that it deserves a pizzeria of its own – so that’s exactly what we did.’

The restaurant is already open for bookings and walk-ins, and is located on 147 Strand, Aldwych, London, WC2R 1JA.
