The former Good Morning Britain host took to his Instagram account to share his desire to sit down and interview the disgraced Tory MP.
The broadcaster, who famously interviewed former US President Donald Trump, took to his Instagram account to share his desire to quiz the former health secretary following his dalliance with Gina Coladangelo.
Sharing a screenshot of a WhatsApp message from brother, Rupert, the former Good Morning Britain host revealed the lengths he would be willing to go to in order to grill the shamed Tory MP.
“Message to my younger brother from one of his mates,” he captioned the post.
“I’d give both my kidneys to be able to….and possibly a lung.”
Many fans were quick to support the 56-year-olds desires, with one commenting: “I think the majority of the country would. What an interview that would be!”
Piers posted the request prior to the health secretary resigning from his position following pictures emerging of him kissing his married aide, reportedly taken on 6 May.
In his letter of resignation, Mr Hancock said: “The last thing I would want is for my private life to distract attention from the single-minded focus that is leading us out of this crisis.
“I want to reiterate my apology for breaking the guidance, and apologise to my family and loved ones for putting them through this. I also need (to) be with my children at this time.”
The leaked CCTV footage of the MP and former lobbyist, published by The Sun, was captured more than a week before social distancing rules were eased around close contact indoors for people from separate households.
On Friday, as the disgraced MP was still acting as health secretary of state, Piers called for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to fire the married dad-of-three.
Piers recalled Professor Neil Ferguson resigning from his government duties, tweeting: “Remember: @MattHancock was so disgusted about Neil Ferguson breaking social distancing rules with a lover, that he demanded he resign and said he’d back a police prosecution.”
“Hancock’s stinking brazen hypocrisy is outrageous & pathetic, as is @BorisJohnson’s refusal to sack him.”
Following Mr Hancocks’ resignation on Saturday, the broadcaster took to his Twitter account to remind his followers of his other failings throughout the pandemic.
After sharing a copy of the MP’s letter of resignation, the presenter followed up with his thoughts about the shamed politician.
The journalist wrote: “Didn’t resign for his abject failures on PPE, testing & care homes that led to Britain having the worst covid death toll in Europe.”
“Did resign for being caught snogging his mistress. Pretty much sums up Matt Hancock. As the Prime Minister said: ‘Totally f*cking hopeless,” he added.
Social media users appeared to agree with his sentiments, with the tweet racking up over 3000 likes in less than 10 minutes.
