Having already completed their first piece of transfer business for the summer, Liverpool are turning their attention to other areas of the squad that require reinforcements.
Jurgen Klopp’s side signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig at the start of the window to reinforce what has been an injury-hit defence.
With that move completed, Klopp will now look to the other priorities on his shopping list, with a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum high on the agenda.
Departures from Anfield could also be on the way after back-ups such as Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri failed to impress last season.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool transfer news…
Klopp shatters Coutinho hopes
Philippe Coutinho has not had an enjoyable spell at Barcelona after moving to the Catalan club from Liverpool in 2018.
And his nightmare could come to an end this summer as the La Liga giants look to relieve the financial crisis currently engulfing the club.
Barca mist reportedly raise £200million before they can register any new signings, with Coutinho a clear candidate to be moved on.
But they are struggling to find any suitors for the Brazilian midfielder, with few teams willing to pay the fee that Barca are demanding.
But that potential deal was shot down by Klopp, who “closed the door” on the 29-year-old when he forced his way out of Anfield three years ago.
Reds beaten to midfielder by Palace
Liverpool have been beaten to the signing of Michael Olise by fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The 19-year-old scored seven goals and notched 12 assists in the Championship for Reading last term as the Royals just missed out on a play-off place.
Olise was played across the forward line last season, featuring on both wings as well as in the number 10 position.

According to 90min, that attracted the interest of Liverpool, who would have been eyeing his £8million release clause.
But instead of Anfield, it will be Selhurst Park that the Frenchman will be playing at next season after Palace activated his release clause ahead of the Reds.
It was confirmed yesterday that he had penned a five-year deal with the Eagles to become Patrick Vieira’s first signing.
Reds open Malen talks
Liverpool are said to have opened talks with superagent Mino Raiola over a potential move for the Dutchman’s client Donyell Malen.
Malen impressed for PSV Eindhoven last season, scoring 19 goals as they finished as runners-up in the Eredivisie.
He carried that form into this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament, drawing the eye of the Reds and Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to boost his attacking options after a season in which Sadio Mane, Origi and Shaqiri all struggled.
It seems that Malen is one of the players who has been identified to fill that gap in Klopp’s squad.
A potential move appears to be progressing, with Sport Witness reporting that Liverpool have entered negotiations with Raiola over his client’s future.
