Peter Crouch says the amount of goals Mohamed Salah is scoring for Liverpool is ‘becoming ridiculous’ after the Egyptian became the quickest player to 100 goals for the Reds in the top flight.

Salah has been in sparkling form so far this season, scoring five goals in his first six Premier League games and opening his account in the Champions League for the campaign against AC Milan.

The 28-year-old has 131 goals for Europe in his remarkable career at Anfield to date and netted his 100th in the Premier League for the Reds in the 3-3 draw with Brentford at the weekend.

100 goals in just 151 Premier League appearances for Liverpool has stunned Crouch, as has the stat that only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Thierry Henry have got to 100 Premier League goals more quickly than Salah.

The former England and Liverpool man says he is running out of words to describe the Egyptian’s feats, which are ‘becoming ridiculous.’

‘That statistic, the people that are ahead of him – Shearer, Kane, Aguero – the company he’s in is just so esteemed, we run out of superlatives really,’ Crouch told BT Sport.

‘He’s just carried on where he left off last season. He had a difficult season last year, but he’s still banging in goals and finishing top goal-scorer. It really is incredible.

‘He can score all types of goals. He’s one of those players that you know what’s going to happen, you know he wants to get on his left foot but you cannot stop him.

‘The amount of goals he’s getting is becoming ridiculous.’

Fastest to 100 Premier League goals

Alan Shearer (124 appearances)
Harry Kane (141)
Sergio Aguero (147)
Thierry Henry (160)
Mo Salah (162)
