The dad of four is normally reticent to talk about how he splits custody of his children Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, with his ex-wife.
But now he’s revealed that his eldest children are being treated to a summer of fun while Katie parties with her new squeeze Kris Boyson, reports the Mirror .
Peter, who also has Millie and Theo with wife Emily MacDonagh, hinted that he’s taking care of Junior and Princess more often than usual this summer after Katie and her toyboy lover jetted off to Thailand.
When asked directly if they’ve been around more often lately, he told Reveal magazine: “I can’t really say anything about that – I’m so sorry.
“I know you’re not asking a direct question, but indirectly, if I answer, it will come across a bit wrong.”
Appearing to take a shot at Katie, he revealed he has to be extra strict with his eldest children and remind them to consider his feelings.
“They’re good kids,” he said.
“They’ve been very fortunate at their school – it’s very strict.
“And I tell them, whatever you do, Dad will hear about it, so just think how Dad would feel about it.
“I made so many mistakes as a kid, but it’s about trying to teach your kids not to make the same mistakes.”
Peter’s guarded response comes as Katie and personal trainer Kris, who at 29 is 11 years her junior, have been putting on quite the graphic display in Southeast Asia as their two-month romance hots up.
But Katie has left her disabled teenage son Harvey at home, along with youngest kids Bunny and Jett, who are being cared for by their dad, Kieran Hayler.
“They’ve just finished school for the summer and they start a new school in September, so it’s time for some fun,” Peter said of his plans for Junior and Princess.
“We’re off to America soon. I’m an ambassador for Universal Studios, so I’ll be at Universal with Junior, Princess and Millie.”
Only recently, Katie spoke about her fractured relationship with first husband Pete, who reportedly banned Junior and Princess from attending her 40th birthday in May.
Over the years, the exes have clashed over several parenting decisions – including Katie’s desire to get Junior and Princess on to social media before they reached the age of 13.
Both kids had their own Instagram accounts set up for them in 2016 – but they lasted just a few days before Peter swooped in and got them shut down.
And Peter has admitted that “trying to give them a little bit of freedom but not too much” has been difficult.
“You’ve got to know which battles to stay adamant on, and which things you let go of a little bit,” he said.
“They haven’t been allowed social media, and then Junior wanted a phone when he was 12, so I said, ‘OK, but you can’t have social media and you can’t take the phone to your room.’
“Then, at 13, he was like, ‘Dad, you can have Instagram at 13 and I’m 13 now.’
“And I was like, ‘I’ll compromise with you. You can have Instagram but it has to be private.'”
