Paul Pogba admits he would rather play in a forward-thinking role at Manchester United, but is content to do whatever is asked of him.
The Frenchman has been performing impressively in recent weeks which has been a huge bonus for his side.
In over four years at Old Trafford there’s been plenty of debate regarding Pogba’s best position.
The constant search for it has appeared to prevent the World Cup winner showing his undeniable quality on a regular basis.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has played him at the base of the midfield but also in a wide position that allows him to push on.
Pogba concedes that influencing the game in the final third is what he enjoys most, but insists playing is the most important thing.
He told BT Sport : “I always love to be in front, but with my body, my abilities and everything, if I can do both, why not?
“But I always want the ball, to touch the ball, be there to make the last pass, third pass, assist shot header and as well to be there defensively I can do it.
“I would prefer to be further [forward] but that doesn’t depend one. As long as I play that’s all that matters.”
Pogba moved to United from Juventus is 2016 and reveals that changes have been made to his game.
The 27-year-old likes to keep hold of the ball, but has understood the need to play with more pace.
“It’s true. I have to adapt as well,” he added during his discussion with Rio Ferdinand.
“This league you do not get as much time as I want, because I like to get a lot of touches on the ball, teams pressing you more, leave some players on me, sometimes I like to play with my ability, put my body.
“Now I just try to play quicker, leave some space behind me, play more as a team than an individual.
“Even though sometimes I like to hold the ball and try to pass the player but It’s better to play one or two touch, that I can do, and run to get in the box.
“For sure he helped me and the team too.
“When I play like that I see the difference, I feel more comfortable, it’s good it helps the team it helps me.
“Mentally when you lose the ball some people don’t want to get on the ball [again], but you know me.
“I think its the right thing to do at the right time, to just play faster.”
