Patrick Kluivert reveals the 1 thing missing from Georginio Wijnaldum's game

Patrick Kluivert reckons Georginio Wijnaldum needs to add more goals to his game.

The Liverpool midfielder was on the scoresheet in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth with a fine finish as he fought off a stomach complaint to play.

However, it was just the Dutchman’s second Premier League goal of the campaign and Kluivert wants to see the 28-year-old on target more often.

“There was a little bit of Bergkamp about it – it was a great goal,” he told Monday Night Football .

“His first touch was already towards the goal and a sublime [finish].

“He can [score more goals]. Georginio is a player who is a real midfielder. Sometimes he gets the goal and sometimes he doesn’t.”

Georginio Wijnaldum scored their second goal

Jurgen Klopp revealed Wijnaldum only played after assuring his boss he was well enough to take part in the Anfield clash after he had been ill with “pretty much everything you don’t want to have two nights before a game”.

The Kop chief said: “After a couple of hours sleep he said, ‘I feel good, I can play’.

The Dutchman celebrates his goal

“The doctor said, ‘You are still infectious, stay away’. I was only concerned after he scored a goal and everybody gave him a hug.

“But playing a game like this shows us. The character and the mentality of these boys is the only reason we are where we are.”
