Paris Hilton calls Britney Spears 'an inspiration' amid conservatorship battle

Paris Hilton has again offered her full support to Britney Spears amid the singer’s battle with her conservatorship.

Speaking with Gigi Gorgeous and Nats Getty on her This is… podcast, the 40-year-old admitted that Britney’s emotional testimony on June 23 was “hard to hear” but labelled the Toxic singer “incredibly brave and an inspiration” for making her voice heard.

And the socialite once again said that she stands firm with the #FreeBritney movement to end her conservatorship.

The court order has kept Britney’s dad in control of her personal and financial decisions for 13 years following her multiple involuntary holds in psychiatric hospitals.

Britney, 39, remotely spoke for 23 minutes at the hearing in a Los Angeles court as she pleaded with Judge Brenda Penny to remove her dad Jamie from the legal order.

She made several allegations throughout her speech, including that she was forced to tour and intimidated into signing paperwork.

The singer had also spoke directly to a judge in 2019 in a bid to overturn the order but the statements in that failed attempt were never made public.

Talking to her guests on the podcast, Paris revealed: “That was hard to hear, just her whole testimony. I knew she was being controlled, but not in ways like that, that just broke my heart.”

And speaking about when Britney made comment about Paris herself, the socialite said: “Dealing with it as a teenager was hard, but I can’t imagine still, as an adult, after working your entire life.

“She’s built a huge empire. She’s a legend. She’s an icon. She’s a mother … She’s amazing and she has these people controlling her money, her life. I’m so proud of her for speaking up and using her voice.”

Paris showed more unwavering support on social media on Tuesday as she took to Twitter to air her views further.

Alongside clips from the podcast, she wrote: “I will always support and love Britney. She is so kind and sweet, and she deserves her freedom. I’ve been saying #FreeBritney for a long time, and I will keep saying it until she is free. We all need to use our voices to protect victims of abuse.”

Shortly after, she followed the comments up with another tweet saying: “Britney is so incredibly brave and an inspiration for speaking her truth. I know personally how hard it is to come forward to tell your story, and so I hope Britney knows that she is so loved and supported by the world right now. #FreeBritneyNOW”

Since her testimony, a judge has denied Britney’s request to remove dad Jamie, 68, from the conservatorship, while several key figures have also resigned from their roles.

Along with The Bessemer Trust, the wealth management firm that co-controlled Britney Spears’ conservatorship, her longtime manager Larry Rudolph and conservatorship lawyer, Sam Ingham have also stepped down from their roles in recent days.
