Pancake seller, 23, who saw sales quadruple after wearing low cut top BANNED by cops from wearing skimpy garment

A PANCAKE seller whose sales skyrocketed after she started wearing cleavage-revealing cardigans has been BANNED from wearing skimpy garments by cops.

Thai nursing student Olive Aranya Apaiso, 23, was flogging just 30 boxes of her treats a day until she borrowed her friend’s low-cut tops to wear while working at her stall in Chiang Mai.

With her chest on show, her sales quadruped as eager locals lined up for a taste of the crepes while posing for selfies as she cooked them.

But some disgruntled residents complained to police that her outfits were inappropriate prompting officers to visit her stall on Friday.

Cops took Olive to the station where she was hit with a warning and lectured on food hygiene and “respect for the city’s culture” before being released without charge.

But police ordered the student to change her tops or face being arrested for public indecency.

A spokesman from the Chang Phueak district council office said: “Chiang Mai is a cultural city and people have expressed concern about the dress.

“We have asked the lady for co-operation, to wear a bra that is flesh-coloured and an outfit that is less obscene.

“We invited her to the police station to discuss the matter.”

Olive has apologised for offending anyone with her revealing tops, which were held together with a pin. She said tape on her nipples stopped them from slipping out.

The tearful entrepreneur said: “I need to make my own money. I was just trying to support myself.

“Customers were queuing up even before the shop opened. Some would even pose with me and share the pictures online, making my stall even more popular.

“It has only been three months since I opened but now I have selling more than 100 boxes of the crispy pancakes a day.”

Cops have said Olive needs to keep her hair in a net, wear an apron, use gloves, and “keep a distance between customers during baking”.

“I am willing to follow the instructions of all officials,” Olive said.

“After this, I will dress differently and cover up more of my body. I’ll also follow the sanitisation advice.”

One of Aranya’s customers said he started buying pancakes from her because she has a “unique selling style” and the pancakes taste good.

The treats cost 35 Thai baht (about 80p) per box and have different flavours such as green tea and cocoa. The stall opens every day from 11am to 9.00pm.

Lieutenant Colonel Weerapat Khamlapich said: “The lady co-operated and no charges were made against her.

“Officers will check her stall to make sure she is following the advice.”

Public indecency in Thailand is punishable with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Thai baht (£117).
