Owen's Premier League predictions including Man Utd and Liverpool away games

Michael Owen predicts Liverpool will come away from Brighton with three points – but warned Manchester United might struggle to do the same as they travel to Southampton.

The Seagulls host Liverpool in Saturday’s lunchtime game as Jurgen Klopp’s men aim to overtake Tottenham at the Premier League summit.

Spurs then return to action on Sunday in a blockbuster clash with Chelsea and Owen believes first versus third place “should be a cracker”.

Elsewhere, Arsenal aim to return to winning ways in the top flight as they welcome Wolves to the Emirates.

But the weekend’s action kicks-off on Friday night as Crystal Palace host Newcastle at Selhurst Park.

Owen has made his predictions for all 10 games this weekend

BetVictor ambassador Michael Owen anticipates a low-scoring affair in south London, noting “both managers may see a draw as a decent result”.

In contrast, Owen anticipates an entertaining fixture at the Amex, backing his former side Liverpool to win and both sides to score.

Brighton are a good team to watch,” Owen said. “They can be dangerous, especially on the counter-attack as we witnessed last weekend at Villa Park.

“However, this is a step up, and although I think they can get on the scoresheet, I fancy Liverpool to come away with the points.”

In the 3pm game, Owen expects Manchester City to blow Burnley out of the water, warning it could be a “long afternoon” for the Clarets.

Later on Saturday, the former England striker predicts another high-scoring match but cannot pick a winner between Everton and Leeds.

And the day’s action is rounded off with a potential relegation six-pointer as West Brom host Sheffield United. Owen predicts the Blades will “finally get started” with their first win of the season.

On Sunday, he believes a Southampton side in “tremendous” form will earn a point against Manchester United. Owen said: “I think this will be tight, and given the recent form of both sides, I can see this ending in a score draw.”

More goals are predicted for the weekend’s showpiece clash: Chelsea versus Tottenham.

“With both these teams having such quality in attacking areas, I think there will be over 2.5 goals in the game with Chelsea just shading it 2-1,” Owen added.

The 40-year-old also tipped goal-shy striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to return to form as Arsenal face Wolves at the Emirates.

Explaining his pick, Owen said: “On a few occasions this season, Mikel Arteta has opted to sit in. If he decides to do that here, it might invite Wolves to attack and leave some space for the Gunners to counter.

“If it plays out like this, I can see the Gunners shading it, with Aubameyang getting back amongst the goals.”

There are two games on Monday, with Leicester facing struggling Fulham and West Ham hosting Aston Villa.

Owen cannot look beyond Fulham’s poor defensive record and predicts the Foxes will win by a “big margin”.

But the other match is expected to be might tighter, with the Irons fancied to win a “hard-fought victory” over Villa.
