Thomas Tuchel hailed N’Golo Kante’s ‘outstanding’ display after Chelsea recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leicester.

The Blues made light work of Brendan Rodgers’ side on Saturday as goals from Antonio Rudiger, Christian Pulisic and Kante secured the visitors three points.

The latter scored a stunning individual goal for Chelsea’s second as he went on a driving run before firing the ball past his former team-mate Kasper Schmeichel from the edge of the box.

Tuchel was keen to pay tribute to the French midfielder’s display in his post-match press conference.

‘It was a fantastic goal,’ said the German.

‘If you have N’Golo, you have N’Golo — and he’s outstanding.

‘He seems to find another gear all the time on the pitch.

‘It was an excellent performance from him individually, and we’re happy that he’s back, that he feels good and plays with a free mind.

‘When he does this with confidence, he can be the difference.’

Chelsea sit top of the Premier League table, three points ahead of second-placed Manchester City and four clear of Liverpool.

Many are expecting the title race to go down to the wire with those three sides all in fine form and Tuchel is relishing the challenge.

‘I’m excited about it!’ said Tuchel. ‘I’m excited that we are right now a part of it and we want to stay a part of it.

‘I think that everybody around should be excited and proud of the league and its quality, and that every weekend anything can happen and you have more teams to challenge the top teams.

‘I don’t even know if it’s only three teams that are there [challenging for the league title].

‘There are some teams also at the moment behind us who show consistency, who show quality, who show determination.

‘You are right to be proud of your competition here [in England], and for us it feels good at the moment in the middle of that race, and we want to stay in that race.

‘I cannot predict the future so we focus on our game today.’

Chelsea are next in action on Tuesday in the Champions League when they welcome Juventus to Stamford Bridge.
