Outlander's Sam Heughan slams 'disgusting people' behind fake profile of his mum

Sam Heughan has slammed trolls behind a fake online profile claiming to be his mum.

The furious Outlander star shared the Instagram account which was pretending to be mother Chrissie Heughan on Twitter today.

The Scots actor blasted the “disgusting people” who set it up.

Sam, 40, was notified of the page by a helpful fan who also sent a private message from the catfish, posing as artist Chrissie.

Sam Heughan was not impressed

Thanking the social media user who tagged him, he shared the post which read : “How are you doing today? I’m Chrissie Heughan (Sam Roland Heughan) Mom.

“I saw your comments and interest in my son and his work and I appreciate you on his behalf.

“Being an actor has always been his dream and I feel proud whenever I see his movie on the big screen and all this happened due to the support you (his fans) gave him.

“Though he don’t always get the time to speak to his fans personally, but his constantly receiving the news of people claiming to be him, collecting bank details and money from his fans, I feel terrible whenever I get informed of it, hope you’ve never been a victim. I will love to get a response from you.”

The shocked fan shared the message with Sam and said: “Unbelievable! They have exceeded the limits. Please report and block this fake account.”

Sam’s mum Chrissie is an international artist with a huge fan base within her own industry, but tends to keep a low profile on social media.

Sam has spoken in the past of how proud she is of her son’s career, telling This Morning hosts Phil and Holly during an appearance on the ITV show in 2018: “My mum is very proud and always sends me newspaper clippings.”

The heartthrob hasn’t let the strange incident spoil his day however and has been excitedly sharing posts from people who have bought his much-anticipated new book.

The star wrote Clanlands, which was released today, with fellow Outlander star Graham McTavish.

Jokingly describing it as a “confessional meets a road trip meets a death-defying experience”, the duo say the non-fiction piece is about ‘Whisky, Warfare and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other’.
