Sheyi Ojo scored the only goal of the game in Rangers’ 1-0 win over Feyenoord on Thursday night, and it was a truly memorable strike from the on-loan Liverpool man.

The 22-year-old, who is on his fifth loan spell away from Anfield, had already scored three times in the qualifying stages of the Europa League, firing Rangers into the group stage.

He has now got his team off to the perfect start thanks to a thunderbolt of a left-footed shot from 20 yards, beating the Feyenoord goalkeeper at his near post.

Having also scored once in the Scottish Premiership, the memorably effort was Ojo’s fifth in a Rangers shirt already.

Ojo tweeted after the game, dedicating his goal to Rangers hero Fernando Ricksen, who died on Wednesday.

‘Great team performance!! Want to dedicate my goal to Fernando Ricksen & his Family. I hope we all gave you the perfect send off 🙏🏽 also my sweet dog who passed away last week, i love you.’

It was a mixed night for on-loan Liverpool players as goalkeeper Loris Karius endured a torrid time of it for Besiktas away at Solvan Bratislava.

The error-prone keeper came charging out of his box at 0-0, misjudged his header and wiped out the covering defender in the process to allow the Slovakians to go ahead.

Besiktas would take the lead, but then the German conceded three more goals (none of which were his fault, to be fair) and the Turkish side were downed 4-2.

Karius posted on his Instagram after the game: ‘I know this game hurts. Us as a team and you fans. You can be angry and disappointed. I take responsibility for the first goal this ball has to be cleared better.

‘After that, we still could have won this game. Things didn’t go our way. Also with the late goal we conceded. But please, let’s all stick together. The whole club. There is still everything to play for this season.

‘We have an important game on Monday night. We need your Support right now to get through this. Lets be together and get 3 points Monday. The whole team will give everything on the pitch for you.’
