Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Anthony Martial is ‘working hard’ to return to form following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with West Brom on Sunday.

Sam Allardyce’s side took an early lead at The Hawthorns before Bruno Fernandes scored an excellent equaliser.

Edinson Cavani spearheaded United’s attack, while Martial struggled to make an impact on the left flank before he was replaced by Mason Greenwood in the 66th minute.

After finishing as United’s top scorer last season, the 25-year-old has been less prolific this term with just four goals in 19 Premier League appearances so far.

But Solskjaer is confident that Martial will get back to his best.

‘I know Anthony’s working hard to get back to where he was and he’ll score goals,’ said Solskjaer.

‘His attitude is very good, form is sometimes temporary but class is permanent and the kid has got class.

‘And when he works hard we know he’s going to come out with the performances in the end.’

Solskjaer also admitted that United lacked ‘ruthlessness’ in the final third against West Brom, who are 12 points adrift of safety after the draw.

‘The attitude is right,’ said the United manager.

‘I have seen the focus, the work the coaches have done and the focus and their attitude is right. I cannot fault it at all.

‘It’s about the quality in games. It doesn’t matter in the Premier League, if you play the fifth team, the 18th team or the 10th team.

‘You’ve got to produce quality in the big moments. We just lacked that little bit of ruthlessness and clinical finishing. Definitely.’
