Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms when David de Gea will return to Manchester United training

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed he is expecting David de Gea back in Manchester United training on Monday after the goalkeeper was forced to sit out the Premier League clash with West Ham.

De Gea travelled to Madrid for the birth of his son and has missed four matches.

Dean Henderson has kept goal in his absence but came under fire after a mistake in a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.

De Gea has returned to the UK now, however, and Solskjaer will welcome him back to Carrington this week and he could be in contention for the

‘Yeah, he’s quarantining now,’ Solskjaer said when explaining De Gea’s absence against West Ham on Sunday night.

‘I think today is his last day so he’s back in training hopefully tomorrow.’

While De Gea didn’t make it in time, Marcus Rashford’s return from injury provided a major boost to Solskjaer ahead of the visit of David Moyes’s side.

With fellow forwards Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial absent due to injury, it looked as if United’s attacking threat could be severely hindered, but Rashford was a surprise inclusion in the starting XI after an ankle issue.

‘Thankfully, yeah,’ Solskjaer said when asked about Rashford’s return. ‘He trained yesterday and there was no reaction luckily.

‘We are down to the bare bones with the forwards, normally we struggle with centre-backs at this club but now it’s forwards and midfielders.

‘We’ve got a strong team, I feel out on the pitch.’
