It is with great sadness that we announce that Steve Georgiou, formerly an advertising sales executive with Scottish Business Insider and insider.co.uk has died.
Steve died in hospital on Christmas Eve having contracted Covid-19.
Well known to clients, contacts and friends particularly in the Scottish property sector and professional services, Steve worked with Insider for nearly six years before leaving in September to join Canongate Communictions.
Prior to working with Insider he ran his own business for six years, publishing a property magazine and organising linked events.
His earlier working life included him being a piano tuner for Yamaha.
A keen churchgoer, Steve played keyboards in his local church.
Steve is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Aileen Turnbull, head of sales, Business Insider and Events, said: “I worked with Steve for five and a half years and he was one of the most hard working and dedicated people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. He had a great singing voice and would often burst into song, quite loudly to entertain us.
“He will be missed by us all but no more than his beloved colleague and friend, Eleanor Hunt. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
Ken Symon, editor of Scottish Business Insider, said: “I was very sad to hear of Steve’s passing. He was a key part of Insider for more than five years and he and I worked very closely together. He will be much missed.”
