Arsenal boss has opened up on Nuno Tavares’ reaction to his brutal 34th-minute substitution during the Gunners’ disappointing 1-0 FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

With his side struggling at the City Ground, Arteta hauled the left-back off and replaced him with Kieran Tierney but Arsenal still fell to defeat as they crashed out of the cup.

And details of Tavares’ training ground reaction have now been revealed by his manager.

It comes as the club’s ‘next Bukayo Saka’ has begun to emerge – and he’s even impressed Brazil legend Pele.

And Arteta appears to be taking advice from ex-teammate Thomas Vermaelen following the Gunners’ latest loan swoop.

Gunners make loan swoop

Mikel Arteta is planning a loan swoop to improve his midfield options this month, and it seems the Arsenal boss has been taking advice from former teammate Thomas Vermaelen.

Ex-Gunners centre-back Vermaelen predicted in 2018 that Juventus ace Arthur could reach the top of the game, and Mikel Arteta may well agree.

The Spaniard coach is looking to seal a loan move for the Brazilian centre midfielder this month having been left with limited options in the centre of the park following the departures of several players to the Africa Cup of Nations.

But the deal could hinge on one thing, and it involves fellow Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes..

Mikel Arteta has revealed how left-back Nuno Tavares reacted to his brutal first-half substitution against Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old was hauled off after 34 minutes, but the substitution couldn’t help Arsenal progress as they were dumped out in the third round following Lewis Grabban’s late winner.

The Gunners boss has now shared how he reacted during a similar situation during his own playing career – and says Tavares’ reacton was the complete opposite.
