Nixon told Elvis to spy on John Lennon

Elvis Presley was told to spy on John Lennon by President Nixon while the Beatle was living in New York, according to a music journalist. Bob Harris said that Nixon “loathed” Lennon for his criticism of the Vietnam war and wanted him out of the US. Harris told the Rockonteurs podcast: “Nixon was a great friend of Elvis and vice versa. Nixon had [instructed] Elvis to gather as much information about John Lennon as he possibly could.”

Dolphin committed suicide after affair with woman

A woman said she had a sexual relationship with a dolphin that later seemed to commit suicide when their fling came to an end. During the 1960s, Margaret Howe Lovatt was part of a Nasa-funded project to communicate with dolphins. She said she became very close to one dolphin, Peter, who was “sexually coming of age and a bit naughty”. She said she began to give the dolphin sexual relief. He later seemingly killed himself by deliberately staying submerged until he suffocated.

Couple embark on road trips in hearse

A couple say they are taking road trips in converted hearse which they have nicknamed ‘The Grim Sleeper’. Shannon Orr and Iain Cameron from Warrington, drove across Scotland’s North Coast 500 in their 1998 Volvo 960 Hearse with their two dogs, Billy and Peanut. “I think with it being a hearse, it puts people off due to its previous passengers,” Orr said. “But it just works so well as a camper if you can get past that part.”
