Will 13 be lucky for Nintendo fans?

The prediction of a new Nintendo Direct this week has come true, but will this really see a reveal for Metroid Prime Trilogy?

Most Nintendo rumours never pan out, but it seems as if the insider tip about a new Direct event on Wednesday, February 13 was right.

It’s a late one, at 10pm GMT, which usually implies big news, as it’s is aimed at ensuring everyone in the world has a chance to see it at the same time.

As usual, Nintendo aren’t saying much about what games will feature, except that there’ll be ‘new details’ on Fire Emblem: Three Houses and that it’ll be around 35 minutes long – which is quite lengthy for a Direct.

The original rumour suggested that the Direct will ‘probably’ feature Metroid Prime Trilogy, which makes sense given the recent delay of Metroid Prime 4 and rumours that the remasters were actually finished some time ago.

The other games rumoured to be featuring are the much speculated on, but never announced, Super Mario Maker 2 and a new 2D Zelda.

GameCentral’s own sources have also suggested that the team behind 2013’s A Link Between Worlds is working on a new game, but they couldn’t confirm it was actually a Zelda title.

Ports of Wii U title Pikmin 3 and the BoxBoy games for the 3DS are also rumoured, as well as an unspecified new Pokémon title.

Whether this is the long-awaited reveal of the new mainline sequel for the Switch is unclear but it’s interesting that the rumours make no mention of Animal Crossing or Luigi’s Mansion 3, which may mean they’re coming out later in the year.
