Nick Cannon emotional over the death of his five month old son

Nick Cannon has thanked his friends, family and fans for their messages of love and support after he announced the devastating news that his five-month-old son Zen had died.

The presenter, 41, emotionally revealed on Tuesday that his youngest son had passed away from a brain tumour.

And on Wednesday he said a big thank you to everyone for their support.

He expressed his gratitude on The Nick Cannon Show on Wednesday afternoon, saying: “Of course, everyone knows I’m not fine, but you all are making me feel better.”

He continued to say that he was feeling a sense of guilt as he didn’t want to exploit the sad news, but admitted that he appreciated those who were rallying round him.

“The onslaught of love is new to me, so thank you is all I can say,” he added.

Nick said that the love shown across the globe was unexpected but he didn’t want to make the heartbreaking news about him, and instead wanted to honour his son.

The news of Zen’s death came as a surprise to his fans after the star kept the child’s health issues private out of respect for his son’s mum, model Alyssa Scott, and her family.

Since the news, fans have continued to flock to social media to share messages of condolence and support.

Nick said on his show on Tuesday that Zen’s brain tumour had grown at a rapid pace.

He said: “Over the weekend, I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus… brain cancer.

“It’s tough. And I have my therapist here, who’s been helping us through it.”

Nick revealed that Zen’s condition took a turn for the worse over the Thanksgiving holidays and said that the tumour tragically grew at a rapid pace after that.

He went on to give more detail on baby Zen’s health battle, stating that the tot started to develop what they thought was a sinus issue at around two months old.

Nick and Alyssa noticed that their son’s head seemed larger than normal and doctors said fluid had started to build up in the little boy’s head.

Zen was Nick’s seventh child and fourth to be born in the last year and a half.

He is also father to twins Morocco and Monroe, 10, who he shares with ex Mariah Carey, and Golden, four, and Powerful, 11 months, who he shares with Brittany Bell.

He also shares twins Zillion and Zion, five months, with Abby De La Rosa.
