When does the Next sale start?

Next is so far keeping schtum about when its sale will launch this autumn but one shopper on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group reckons it will be this Saturday (September 19).

The retailer wouldn’t confirm or deny this when approached by The Sun but on its website VIP members have been told they’ll get early access from Wednesday September 16.

So it appears the full sale won’t be long to launch after this date.

How to make the most of the Next sale

THESE tips from a Next employee can help you make sure you bag the best bargains when the sale launches.

  1. Familiarise yourself with the stock – check in store and online to see what items you might fancy, that means you’ll be able to act fast once prices start dropping.
  2. Check online – often the sale launches online before stores open so go digital to get the best bargains.
  3. Consider the VIP scheme  – if you have a credit account you can get access to the sale before the general public.
  4. Choose the right store – smaller outlets are likely to be less rammed, so you may have less competition for deals.
  5. Shop late in the day – around two hours before closing, staff start replenishing stock for the next day, so this is a great time to hit the stores.
  6. Look at ticket codes – if you’re in a Next keep an eye out for black dots on tickets; chances are that means an item is going to be discounted, so you’re better off waiting till the price drops.
  7. Homeware and women’s clothing sells fastest – so you might want to get to stores first thing for these items.

Last autumn, the Next sale began on the third Saturday of September – Saturday September 21, which means it’s likely to follow suit this year too.

Next’s last sale launched on Thursday July 2 at 5am in-store and via the clearance tab online with VIP customers being given early access on Tuesday June 30.

Opening hours can vary from store to store so check your local’s times using Next’s store locator tool before you head to the shops.

What will be in the sale?

It’s too early to know what will be in the sale this year but Next usually gives shoppers at least 50% off on ranges including clothing and homeware with discounts available both online and in store.

The clothing sale typically includes women’s, men’s, and children’s garments, shoes, and accessories.

It also usually includes branded items from the likes of Lipsey, River Island, and more, as well as Next’s own-brand ranges.

Can I book a VIP slot yet?

To be allocated a VIP sale invite, which essentially means you get early access online to the sale before everyone else, you will need to:

  • Have successfully created a “nextpay” credit account by 11.59pm on Friday September 11, 2020.
  • Be opted in to receive marketing emails – you can change the setting for this in your online account.

You will then receive your early access invite by Wednesday September 16, 2020.

In the past, you’ve also needed to meet the following criteria – we’ve asked Next if this is still the case and we’ll update this story as soon as we get a response:

  • Have a Next flexible credit account with at least £250 credit available
  • Have placed and kept an order from the Next Directory within the last year
  • Have an up to date email address registered with Next, and be registered to receive sale and promotional emails
  • Have received a copy of the Next Directory
  • Have returned less than two thirds of the items they’ve ordered

Time slots are restricted to one slot per customer, although previously you’ve been able to update your slot at any time – we’ve asked if this is still the case.

Slots are allocated on a first come, first served basis and they’re limited.

Next fans advise getting the first slot you’re offered as you’re likely to get better deals.

Also be aware that if you book a VIP shopping slot and do not use it, this may affect your eligibility for any priority VIP online sale invitations in the future.

Judging by social media no-one has been emailed with slots yet for this month’s sale.

Think carefully before taking out any store card though.

The interest rate is 23.9%, so you want to make sure you can pay off the items in full each month.

Otherwise the amount you pay in interest will wipe out the savings you make in the sale.
